Edith Ann (Gordon) Galle

November 19, 1923 — September 30, 2022

Farmington, New Mexico

“What a wonderful life I have had”

Edith Ann Gordon Galle peacefully passed into glory on September 30, 2022 at the age of 98, Edith Ann was born November 19, 1923 in Mesa, Arizona to Joseph William (Daddy Joe) and Eva Pearl Grimes Gordon (Nana). The family moved to Farmington in the early years of 1940 where they made their home for the duration of their lives. Edith Ann graduated from Ft. Sumner High School in 1942 and in 1945 trained and was accepted into the New Mexico Board of Cosmetology. During her 25 plus years as a cosmetologist she served as President of the local Farmington-Aztec Hairdressers Association which raised funds for different charities in the San Juan County region. Quilting was one of her passions, she was a member of the San Juan County Quilters Guild for over 25 years winning several blue ribbons for her work throughout the years. She was noted for making every member of her family a quilt until her eye sight made it impossible to continue. Another of her passions was traveling, she loved traveling with family, friends and on senior bus trips. Travel included Hawaii (with her daughter and two daughters-in-law), Alaska (with her grandson Robert), Spain (with her husband and group of cosmetologists), Yellowstone (with daughter and son-in law Paul), senior bus trips to Nashville, Branson, Niagra Falls and Canada just to mention a few.

Edith Ann met and married George D. Adams in 1946 with whom she had three wonderful children, Dennis Lane Adams, Lewis Robert Adams, and Priscilla Gail Adams Andrews. Following her divorce and several years later she met Frank E. Galle which turned into a 30-year marriage and romance. Frank and she loved to dance and would go dancing each-and-every Saturday night. They loved preparing and hosting large family cookouts and having everyone over on holidays and birthdays. One of their specialties was making homemade chili queso.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Joe and Eva Gordon, Frank Galle (husband), Lewis Robert Adams (son), Jay Newt Gordon (brother), John Robert Gordon (brother), Claire Ruth Gordon Geer (sister), Helen Jo Gordon Bandy (sister), along with two daughters-in-laws Deborah Thompson Adams and Betty Matejek Adams.

Edith Ann is survived by her children, Dennis Lane Adams (Farmington), and Priscilla Gail Adams Andrews (and husband Dr. Paul Andrews) from Tyler, Texas, grandsons; Robert Joseph and Walter Justin Chander, Christopher Shane, and Robert Michael Adams; granddaughters: Amanda Sue Adams, Denise Lynn Adams, Eva Kristine Chandler, and Marilee Renee Adams Kothe. Along with six great-grandchildren and three awesome nephews; Tim, Ken, and Pat Gordon.

She cherished and loved her family dearly. Her goodness, her caring, and her wisdom will live on like a legacy of love that will always be with us.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the clinicians and staff at the Beehive (#4), Basin Home Health & Hospice and the Aztec Health Care Assisted Living for their tireless compassion and commitment in caring for Edith Ann.

Funeral services will be held at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington on Wednesday October 5, 2022 at 10am with a viewing an hour prior. A committal will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery.
