There was a time long ago, you thought to be a nun,
Your heart was set to serve the Lord until your days were done.
I thank the Lord every day for the path He chose instead.
I have no doubt you followed Him exactly where He led.
Wife, Mother, Sister; Grammie, neighbor, friend,
You filled each role so gracefully, with compassion to the end.
I can’t recall a time since the day that I was born,
When you were not the calm, prepared for every storm.
Not only for myself, but all whom you held dear,
With silence and no judgement, you would lend an ear.
A gift so few possess today, and one I pray for often,
The world is full of hardened hearts that God just wants to soften.
To sum your life in so few words… I will tell them about your soul;
Love, joy, peace longsuffering, kindness, goodness and self control.
I Corinthians chapter 13…It must have been sitting at God’s feet
The moment He created you and gave you your first heartbeat.
By far the most important gift was showing me the way…
To make sure today is NOT goodbye, but I’ll see you again one day.
