Genevieve M. Saucedo

Genevieve Saucedo, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on February 20, 2021 at her home in Gallup, New Mexico, she was 87 years of age. She was born on December 24, 1933 in Gibson, New Mexico.

Genevieve moved to Gallup when she was in the 2nd grade. She graduated from Cathedral High School, and went to work at Mountain Bell phone company. Genevieve also worked in Administrative Service and Finance and then set up an IHS area center warehouse. She ordered supplies for eight hospitals and thirty-two clinics. Upon retirement she joined the Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital Auxillary, about a year later, Genevieve started serving as the manager of the gift shop, and remained in that position for 9 years. Genevieve enjoyed working at the gift shop. She has served on the Auxiliary Board in numerous positions. She has donated 19,110.25 hours, and celebrated 27 years of volunteer auxiliary membership.

She married Richard and they had four children; Everyone in their family have birthdays either on holidays or other special days. She always said “she did the best she could”, to be a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She can now rest knowing how deeply she was loved,  she will be missed by everyone that knew her.

Genevieve is survived by her children; Rick Saucedo and his wife Yollie, Deb Escajeda and her husband Anthony, Diane Montano and her husband Jimmy, Ron Saucedo and his wife Sara and Donna Steinback.  37 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren (& one on the way). Four great-great grandchildren. Her brothers; Joseph Esparza and Lawrence Talamante. Her sisters; Jenny Placencio, and Cecelia Sandoval. Along with numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Saucedo. Her parents; Luis and Mary Esparza. One granddaughter; Shawney Montano. Her siblings; Tony Esparza, Nieves Esparza, John Esparza, Andrew Esparza, Severa Diaz, Lena Talamante, Mary Chavez, Nestora Esparza, Antonina Esparza, and Salvador Esparza.

On Monday March 1, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, at 9:30 AM a Rosary will be led by Geraldine Montoya. At 10:00 AM a Mass will be celebrated by Father James Walker. Inurnment of the cremated remains will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers include; Lil Rick Saucedo, Lil Ron Daniel, Toni Armijo, Johnny Montano, Dawn Garcia, Jimmy Montano.

Honorary Pallbearers include; Lawrence Talamante, Janell Griego, Michelle Skersick, Megan Peterson, Tamara Lynn Saucedo, Kelly Ann Patino, Tanyia Montoya, Anthony R. Escajeda, David Escajeda, Tiffani Chavez, Toinette Escajeda, Michael Escajeda, Matthew Escajeda, Mark Escajeda, Traci Ordonez, and Isaiah Escajeda and all of her Hospital Auxiliary family.

The family would like to thank everyone at Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital for all of her care and the love that they provided, especially her nurse Donna Steinback, Dr. McKenzie, Dr. Jackson, the Emergency Room, ICU and med-surg staff. Also, Ernest Martinez and staff at Cope Memorial Chapel.
