Michael G. Castillo
(February 13, 1978 - May 10, 2021)
Michael Gordon Castillo passed from this life on Monday, May 10. His loss will forever leave an emptiness in our hearts; however, we are eternally grateful for the time we shared. His life meant being true to yourself and was portrayed in the simplest of ways.
Friend.
Known by "Mike" by all he knew, Michael was a lifelong resident of Farmington. Through the years, he had never known a stranger and always made a point to make someone laugh. Numerous people will always remember his crazy and stupid jokes and movie one-liners that only he made famous.
Classic rock music, movies, NFL sports, and art was a huge part of what defined his persona. Mike always loved and found solace in rock and heavy metal because those genres seemed to fit his personality—unabashed and upfront, especially when he attended concerts. Comedies and horror movies were his favorites and he spent as much time as he could fishing. He collected graphic novels and comic books throughout the years but never outgrew them. Video gaming was also a big part of his life and his passion rubbed off onto the younger generation.
Both friends and family alike will remember Mike as genuine, funny, dependable, generous, and as a mentor.
Hard Worker.
An industrial mechanic by trade, Mike earned the following accomplishments: Natural Gas Compression Certification (Waukesha, San Juan College, 2004), Associates Degree in Machine Shop Technology, San Juan College, 1998), and Diploma from Farmington High School, Class of 1996. As a lead technician, he overhauled Waukesha gas engines and was a vital asset to the oilfield industry. He loved being a mechanic and was very proficient in his job.
Son. Brother. Uncle.
Michael is survived by our father Curtis, brother Ronald, sisters Orena Beyet, Melisa (Fermin) Nieto, and Carolyn Castillo, nephews/nieces Derrick and Brianne Smith, Isiah Beyet, Marisa and Fermin Nieto Jr., and Matthew and Tianna Castillo, as well as numerous extended family. He was also a father-figure to Blair Dickie and Dylan Myers.
Michael is preceded in death by our mother Roselyn Castillo, fiancée Angelita J. Pinto, and brother-in-law Norbert N. Beyet.
Michael is in the care of Cope Memorial Chapel in Kirtland. Services are pending and will be held at Deeper Faith Ministries with Dr. Reverend Tena Siow-Yazzie officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington with reception to follow at Deeper Faith Ministries in Kirtland.
Words cannot describe, nor do justice, in expressing the loss of Michael; yet, our family takes comfort in knowing that he has been lifted into the Kingdom of Heaven. A heartfelt Thank You goes to Dr. Reverend Tena Siow-Yazzie and the wonderful congregation of Deeper Faith Ministries for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Michael’s membership and service to the church exemplified the authenticity of his character and was rewarded with redemption by Our Savior and Eternal Lord, Jesus Christ. Michael’s time on earth was short but his memory will live on in our hearts.
Mike, we all miss you and love you very much. We will meet again.
