Ramona Inez Herrera

Ramona Inez Herrera passed away on January 7, 2021 at her home in Gallup, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years of age. She was born on June 6, 1930 in San Antonio, New Mexico.

She was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Being active with the Blue Army and Guadalupanas prayer groups. She will be remembered for the love she had for her 5 generations of family members, her prayer book and the prayers she prayed for everyone she knew and her enjoyment of word search puzzles. She was loved and will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Herrera is survived by her nine children; Ruth Herrera, John Herrera and his wife Carol, Andy Herrera, Christine Diaz and her husband Michael, Vickie Herrera, Jerry Herrera and his wife Louisa, Donna Herrera, Lori Silva and her husband Ralph, and Rick Herrera and his wife Vicki. Her sister-in-law; Marjorie Armijo. 14 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Numerous nephews and nieces also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband John S. Herrera. Her parents; Jose Leon Armijo and Refujia Lucero Armijo. Four Grandchildren; John Jr., Joe Paul, Jerry John, and Jackie Lynn. Six siblings; Josefita Montoya, Tomasita Romero, Joaquin Armijo, Bill Armijo, Eddie Armijo, and Joe Armijo.

On Thursday January 14, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, a visitation will begin at 9:00 am. At 12:00 pm a Rosary will be recited, at 12:30 pm a Mass will be co-celebrated by Father Eduardo “Lalo” Espinosa, OFM and Father Abel Olivas, OFM. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers include; John Paul Alatorre, Tommy Tate Alatorre, Jeremiah Herrera, Joshua Diaz, Houston Silva, and James Chavira.

Honorary Pallbearers include; Jordan Greene, Jason Alatorre, Johnathan Alatorre, Ray Martinez, Ralph Silva, Michael Diaz, Damien Herrera and Raymond Herrera.

Cope Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
