Kathy Lopez-Garcia

Kathy Lopez-Garcia of Albuquerque/Cubero, New Mexico passed away on May 6, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 65 years of age. She was born on January 22, 1957 in Grants, New Mexico.

Kathy was a hard-working role model; she was the first female Uranium Mine Driller on her rig. She was active with the Cubero Land Grant, and Erosion Control. She was an instructor for children’s Cinco De Mayo folk dancing classes. She was a cook at St. Joseph and Cubero Elementary. She enjoyed Ranching and loved animals, But the family will remember her love, and devotion, especially for her grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed.

Kathy is survived by her three sons; Joseph Ray Garcia, Randall Wayne Garcia, and Mark James Garcia and his wife Melissa. Her Mom; Viola Lopez. Se ven grandchildren; Fernando Macias, Demetrio Macias, Alicia Garcia, Carolina Garcia, Demitria Garcia, Adelina Garcia, and Francisco Garcia. Her companion; Juan Anguiano Medina. Her siblings; Charlie Lopez, Clifford Lopez, Robert Lopez, Alvin Lopez, Shirley Lopez, Pauline Griego, Karen Lopez, Annabelle Mascarenas. Beatrice Marquez, and Judy Lopez. Along with numerous other family and friends that also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her Dad; Herman Lopez Jr. Three brothers; Teddy Lopez, Herman “Sonny” Lopez Jr. and Eddie Lopez. And her grandmother; Carolina J. Salazar.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church in Cubero, New Mexico. On Wednesday May 11, 2022 a public visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, at 7:00 PM a Rosary will be recited by Deacon Larry Chavez. On Thursday May 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Alberto Avella. Interment will follow at Cubero Cemetery.

Pallbearers include; Joseph Garcia, Randall Garcia, Mark Garcia, and Juan Anguiano Medina.
