Leroy Rosario Sanchez

Leroy Rosario Sanchez, a loving husband, father, grandfather, cherished brother, and good friend to many passed away peacefully at his home in Flora Vista, NM on March 19, 2023, at the age of 78. Leroy was born on November 26, 1944, in Tapicitos, New Mexico. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was active at his Parish at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernardo and Josefa Sanchez. He was one of seventeen children. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy, his son Damen, three grandchildren Isaac, Damen and Megan, great granddaughter Aurelia, two sisters Mary Quintana and Doris Sanchez and a brother Gerald Sanchez and numerous nieces and nephews that have always held a special place in his heart. He was proud of his family and loved them dearly. He graduated from Aztec High School in 1964 and remained close to many of his classmates. He always enjoyed getting together at class reunions. He spent 4 years in the Navy working on airplanes during the Vietnam War. He worked a short time in the oilfield before becoming a welder for El Paso Natural Gas. He retired as a welder and went on to work another 15 years as a certified welding inspector for Burlington, Conoco Phillips, Williams, and various other oilfield companies. He loved the outdoors, building fences on his land, riding his horses, hunting deer and elk, water skiing, snow skiing, and camping. He met many friends along the way at church and those he worked with.  He loved to see them and share stories and hugs.  He was passionate about his horses. He enjoyed riding for pleasure as well as owning and training racehorses. He was a huge fan of NASCAR and enjoyed watching the Sunday Cup Series.

His service will be held Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Flora Vista, New Mexico on April 1, 2023. The Rosary will be at 10:30 am led by The Legion on Mary and the Mass will be at 11:00 am officiated by Father Raja.

Rest in Peace, Leroy. You will be greatly missed by those who loved you and knew you best.
